German government spokesman Stephen Seibert said earlier this week that Chancellor Merkel wants to discuss the current areas of unrest in the Middle East.
“Clarity, tensions between the United States and Iran, among other issues, may be the subject of talks between Chancellor and President Putin in Moscow”, he said.
He added that Russia is an important factor on the world stage and as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, it is also a necessary participant in resolving political conflicts.
Otherwise, Merkel and Putin met last month in Paris under efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the eastern part of Ukraine.
