Food and Veterina Agency spokesman Lamir Thaci has suggested to the newspaper “The new age” that the Republic of Kosovo does not have imports from the state of China, of food products which are potentially considered subject through which the virus can be passed, there is also no imports of living animals.
The only import was bee food and bees' hots. Which we immediately stopped for import. This helps us avoid danger directly from the site of the virus's origin. Likewise, to any country that takes measures to ban food and animal products, immediately stops will be useful for trading with our country”, Thaci said.
He has said that the Food and Veterinary Agency is constantly monitoring the situation from the beginning of the recent spread of Coronavirus, which originated in China but has doubts that it is spreading to Europe as well.
“We as the highest food authority and veterinarians are ready at any time to make ourselves available for action, to prevent the spread of the disease in our country. We're part of the country's infectious disease committee. We are in full co-ordination with the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health. All recommendations derived from the World Health Organization (OBSH) and the Disease Control Centre (CDC) are prepared to apply in part of our competencies. Like all countries that are encouraged to continue strengthening their readiness for health emergencies in line with the International Health Rule (2005). The Food and Veterinary Agency has enough experience and we are prepared for action in cases of outbreaks of diseases”, Thaci has said.
He further added that the official responsible for drafting the action plan and accounting for “2019-nV”, as well as the Sanitarian Inspectorate, is in a position to implement the Law on Contagion Diseases. “We have assigned the official responsible for drafting the action plan and accounting for the '20s/nCoV'.
