Iranian state TV says the attack is a revenge after the country's top commander, Qasem Solejmani, was killed in a fearful attack in Baghdad, at the order of US President Donald Trump.
The Pentagon says two sites were attacked, in Irbil and Al Assad. It's unclear if there were victims. The president has been informed and is closely monitoring the situation and is consulting his national security team,”, White House spokesman Stephanie Grizham said in a statement, the BBC writes, forwarded Periscope.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard said the attack was in retaliation for Solejman's death on Friday.
“We are warning all American allies who gave their bases to its terrorist army that any territory that is the initial point of aggressive action against Iran will be targeted,” she said through a statement carried by Iran's state agency, the IRNA.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif later issued a statement on Twitter, claiming the attack was self-defense and denied seeking to escalate the situation in war.

President Trump tweeted the tweet immediately after that, insisting that “everything is fine”, while adding that they had not yet assessed possible victims.
