Hoti: LDK does not move from latest bid

Democratic League of Kosovo headship member Avdullah Hoti says that with the latest offer they made to the Vetevendosje Movement, they have made the biggest compromise in negotiations on the ruling coalition. Hence, it stated that they will not move at any moment from the positions that they are entitled for a year's post [...]

The former head of the LDK parliamentary group, in an interview for Kosova Prees, says they have never conditioned the formation of institutions, as according to him, their offer is only about balancing power.

“I believe that it is in the interest of the state of Kosovo even in the interest of Vetevendosje so that the institutions will be founded as soon as they are established, respecting this offer that the LDK has made. Take into account both political powers and balance the responsibilities that are healthy for democracy in Kosovo... there is no logic that moves from those points”, he says.

Hoti says that if their offer is accepted, Vetevendosje for three years will have two state positions, the chairman of the Parliament and the prime minister.

We have moved after December 26th and January 8th, we have made this move. We've made another compromise. We've given up four years to keep the entire mandate of the Speaker of the Parliament. We requested that the first year the LDK have one of the top three state positions. And the top positions are the prime minister, the chairman of the Assembly and the president. During this period there are two high state positions that this ruling coalition could have. Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament. Then in the next three years we have expressed readiness to return the position of Speaker of the Parliament, and in the next three years, the VV will have two top state positions. The LDK will have the candidate who nominated for president, who when elected from political clothing. The prime minister at all times did not strip of political clothing, nor did the chairman of the Assembly”, he says.

LDK chairmanship member Avdullah Hoti for KosovaPress also speaks of current Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca. According to him, he cannot become hostage to the agreement for co-government between the two parties. While he says it's a matter of Vetevendosje how Conjufca can be accommodated after leaving the post of chief parliament.

The “is their issue of how they choose affairs within the party, how they accommodate both Mr. Konjufca and others. It's their inner party policy. We have offered an opportunity to work together with the VV in creating new institutions. Now we cannot remain hostage to an approach that the LVV has used during this period. The choice, Mr. Konjufca at the helm of the Parliament, even now promoting the fact that this is done is a policy of the act committed”, he says.

Hoti says all their demands have been rational, as they have been able to seek the post of prime minister.

It is their responsibility to find formulas for institution building. We absolutely cannot interpret anyone that we have conditioned the establishment of new institutions on demands that are not rational. Not rational request, let's say it would be, to seek the post of prime minister”, Hoti said.

Although over 100 days have passed since the 6 October elections, Kosovo still does not have the established government. After the winning party, the Vetevendosje Movement is failing to negotiate with the second party, the Democratic League for forming the ruling coalition. At this start year after three successive meetings between the two party leaders, bids and counter offers were proposed against each other.

The Vetevendosje movement proposed increasing ministries from 12 to 14osh, where the LDK would meet 6 ministries and pledges for president. But in one form it was rejected by the latter, where it submitted its new bid to the winning party, in which the LDK reportedly assumes the post of prime minister for a year, five ministries and pledges to the president's post after a year.
