In Albania, Turkish citizen Salaj Simsek, arrested last year at the “airport, Mother Teresa” with false documents, has sought asylum, claiming he felt insecure to return to Turkey.
In a letter to border authorities, written in Turkish and Albanian, he explains that in Turkey he considers it part of the Gulen movement, and therefore “it can submit to mishandling actions”, it is written in his request.
Representatives of the Turkish Embassy were present at the courtroom at the first session held at the Tirana Court, reports Voice of America.
Turk Simsek, seems to have chosen this route to avoid the fate his co-ordinator, Harun Celik. Both were arrested on the same day and for the same motive. So Celik, Albanian authorities acted urgently by driving her out of Albania, just after she was released from prison, leaving her with no opportunity to file complaints, as Albanian laws themselves predict.
Although Celik and Celik tried to seek asylum, even in recent moments before leaving Albania, authorities stated that there was no written request for asylum, while Albanian legislation predicted that “asylum requests” is any statement of the stranger or person without citizenship, expressed in any way at any time”.
