Young Girls Precaution of Trafficking, Concerned Organisations

Various criminal groups are continuing to exploit minor girls for human trafficking. Traffickers are misusing victims, mainly for profit or for the purpose of sexual exploitation, for prostitution, respectively. This phenomenon has marked growth during 2019, which is being seen with great concern from organizations that protect rights [...]

In an interview for Kosovo Press, the chief of the central sector of human trafficking investigation, Riza Murati, has told of the number of trafficked persons during 2019. Countries where the event was most exercised have been Pristina, Ferizaj, Mitrovica, Peja and Prizren.

Murati says dozens of traffickers have been arrested for these works over the past year.

The Murati, among other things, says most cases identified are by the Kosovo Police themselves, until according to him, very few are reported by the victims themselves.

For this, Kosovo Tax Administration media official Valentina Bytyqi-Sefa tells how many illegal activities have been closed over the past year.

Of the 26 trafficking victims, two are Montenegro's, two from Serbia, one from Albania, while another 21 are from Kosovo.

Adelina Berisha from the Kosovo Women's Group Network says the number of trafficking victims is very disturbing, but also how Kosovo from a country that has been transited has become a source of trafficking.

According to the ombudsman, Hilmi Jashari trafficking is a criminal offence and the basic authority that would have to address this phenomenon is the prosecution and order institutions. Jashar criticises state institutions for not working enough for the housing and protection of these victims.

The only one achieved according to Jashar was made with the law's approval in 2015 when the law was issued, which envisions a compensation that would have to be offered to these victims but which in practice did not work.

In large numbers, human trafficking can begin with fraud for a better life, ending in a lack of freedom and violation of basic rights of children and men.
