The fire has first fallen into the neurology ward and has spread to other floors of the hospital where other wards are located. Helped and by the police's effectiveness, hospital staff evacuated patients to the intact section of the building, while firefighters worked on extinguishing the fire. People in the area around the hospital have also moved in.
Paraly, it is stated that there are no fire injuries, but many patients have had smoke - related asphyxian problems and cable burns. The fire was allegedly caused by the overload of electrical grids from equipment used to heat environments.
An electric spark in one of the pavilion's chambers has caused the burning of electric cables and the spread of fire and polluting gases on other floors in the building. The fire also caused panic in the patient's family.
The Durres hospital has not yet been released with official information on the emergency situation created during the first hours of Saturday, while investigations are expected to further clear the incident.
Patients have been accommodated mainly in the surgery, intensive care and infectious wards of the hospital, while due to the investigation police have blocked the 4th building, one of which has been damaged and without electricity, while the other arm is operational.
