The U.S. donates $100,000 to corrective Service equipment.

From today's Kosovo Correcting Service will have better job opportunities because the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Implementation Issues (INL) of the United States of America donated equipment worth about $100,000. This donation to this present donation was also the deputy aid [...]
This donation by this present donation was also US Deputy Assistant Secretary Jorge Andrews, who said Kosovo in many ways could become a potential model for the region.
According to him, the Correcting Service is the key part of justice sector reforms in any state, so it should be invested in this respect.
It's a measure of every culture or government that agrees to care for citizens who are in prison, the poor or those who need help. This is a true measure of government ability to ensure rule of law and protect the people. We're very proud of the work that you all did, director. We're very proud to have traveled together and waited for further co-operation, and just as the correct system develops and improves here in Kosovo, in many ways you can become a potential model for the region”, he said.
Kosovo Correcting Service Director Nehat Thaci said that through reforms under way in this institution, they are aiming to be an example for the region.
While thanking the US state for this donation, Thaci said that the example of the success of the Kosovo Correcting Service is the visit of a delegation from Albania who have come to Kosovo for practices on how to treat those who are returning from Syria.
It's the aim of corrective officials, it's the purpose of the Ministry of Justice and it's the vital goal of our... Within the Correcting Service we are achieving tangible, reachable reforms. Reforms about staff training, as well as reforms in rehabilitation of prisoners and providing conditions for prisoners as best possible. All these reforms and successes of the Correcting Service are not due solely to us, it is certainly due to our partners, both local and especially international. It is a sixth consecutive donation that will be extended from the United States of America”, he said.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary Jorge Andrews took part in the session of discussion concerning the role of civil society in the justice system, organised by the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD) in co-operation with the American Embassy in Pristina.
Andrews from there said that the vetting process has different risks and challenges and that Kosovo should automatically develop the mechanism to sanction lawyers, prosecutors, judges who did not act on standards ethics.
