Banking of cents on Kosovo market saves nearly 50m euros per year

Every time Kosovo citizens buy something, the change of cents to them seems often useless. This usually starts from not returning a quarter and a half, which at first glance may seem few, but from this the merchants are getting richer every day. Although in Kosovo [...]
This usually starts from not returning a quarter and a half, which at first glance may seem few, but from this the merchants are getting richer every day.
Although in Kosovo there is the Consumer Protection Law, which regulates the protection of fundamental law close to buying products and services, and it highlights “the right to protect consumer economic interests and the right to legal consumer protection”, it is not functioning enough.
Former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Safet Gerxhaliu for Indexline, said that in Kosovo much is spoken of in the laws adopted in parliament, but the main problem is their implementation, in particular the consumer law where consumer citizens are definitely vulnerable in various forms, such as the return of both 1.22 and 3 cents.
The consumer is even being provoked, offended by not returning to the change, and forcing him to seek it.
Ceatin Kachanic of the Organisation “Consumer” said that with the calculations made by them, it results in up to 50m euros a year being replaced by denying the right to exchange consumer citizens.
That situation case named it a “product of a politically-business law, where consumer rights are being violated, it is being ignored and it is touching dignity, it writes.
As an Albanian, we have a lot of pride and begging we don't want, so those who claim to make us beggars are wrong, and actually here make the second mistake”, Kacanic said.
According to Ceatin Kacanik, the only way to protect the consumer is to have as many inspectors on the ground as possible, while Safet Gerjaliu added that awareness campaignes are also necessary.
And for all of this, businesses are coming up with rationalities that the Central Bank of Kosovo is not supplying them with fine coins.
Indexline has asked the CEC about the amount of currency in circulation, but there is no response.
Unfortunately, Kosovo society has become an experiment not only in change, but also in other forms, citizenship is being damaged every day. /Indesksonline/
