The Disaster Management Agency in Turkey has announced that it has reached 31 people dead from the 6.8-degree earthquake, which on Friday hit the eastern part of Turkey.
So far, over 1500 people have been reported injured. Rescue teams are continuing to find people under the rubble, while the number of victims can increase.
These teams have so far saved 45 people, including one woman who was taken out of the ruins of the collapsed house, 17 hours after the quake.
More than 3400 members of 17 sniffing dogs emergency teams have been committed by the government to seek survivors or possible victims under the rubble, writes “Anadolu”.
A team is assessing earthquake damage. According to initial estimates, 76 buildings were destroyed by the quake, 42 suffered significant injuries, and 425 others suffered minor injuries.
The 6.8-strong quake struck Elazig province in the late hours of Friday. The trees also felt in Syria and Georgia.
On Saturday morning, Turkey's president, Recep Erdogan, visited the earthquake-hit area and attended the funeral of the two victims.
