For 233 families, whose dwellings were damaged by the September 21st earthquake in Durres, Shijak, Kruja, Kavaja, or Rrogozhina, rebuilt houses are in the head.
Defence Minister Olita Xhacka inspected the works for some of these items in Manez and the former County area in Durres. She said the state structures are all committed to accommodate the remaining homeless citizens as a result of the damage caused by 2019 earthquakes.
Our commitment is that no citizen remains homeless and that no house remains in ruins. 2020 is the year of reconstruction”, Gacka said.
The reconstruction project of 233 residences is being implemented by the State Budget Reserve to a total of $470m, and from the Defence Ministry budget, the “Civil Emergency programme” to the value of 90m. The progress of the process is being monitored by the National Civil Protection Agency.
“We are all committed: government, local government and citizens, so that the austerity process will be completed on time, despite the problems related to procedures, but not themselves. We will do the same with all the dwellings damaged by the November 26th earthquake. There is a maximum commitment, ahead of the prime minister and the Reconstruction Committee that no one feels alone and that this process as important as it is difficult to complete at the right time”, the minister said.
Works for new homes, based on projects drafted by the Construction Institute in co-operation with local governments, started weeks ago, and work on their completion has continued even after difficulties created due to the November 26th earthquake or bad weather during December.
