The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has received a letter from EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Frederica Mogherni today.
Through this letter, the European Union has responded positively to President Thaci's invitation to send a European mission that will observe the prosperity of the 6 October elections.
I would like to thank you for your letter of August 26, 2019, inviting the European Union to observe early parliamentary elections to be held on October 6th. After your invitation, I have taken the decision to send a mission to monitor the elections”, says the letter of senior EU representative Frederica Moghrini.
In this letter it warns that very soon it will appoint the leader of this mission, until its staff is expected to come in the coming days in the Republic of Kosovo.
President Thaci had earlier called for the October 6th elections to be fair, democratic and supervised by international mechanisms, civil society and the media.
Furthermore, President Thaci has expressed gratitude to the EU for accepting the invitation.
“pleased that Frederica Moghrin has responded positively to my invitation to send an EU mission to monitor the sixth consecutive parliamentary elections in Kosovo. Elections supervised by the Intão Com & Civil Society are strategic for Kosovo democracy and for producing a government that addresses challenges”, Thaci wrote.
