The organisation “Student Peace” has reacted against foreign language criteria for admission at Pristina University at master's (A2) and doctorate (B2) levels.
P SUP, has said that such a criterion creates monopolies and goes to the expense of students, as these diplomas can only be obtained in AAB College, reports news.
According to P SUP, as a consequence of this ruling criterion of the Prime Minister's Office, has warned that if this decision does not go away as soon as possible, measures will be taken until protests with all injured students.
This is the full response:
The Student Peace of the University of Pristina reacts to the criteria for foreign languages for continuing studies in the master-level and doctorate programme, viewing the criteria as illegal, since it estimates it is contrary to the University of Pristina statute “Hasan Pristina”.
According to the UPI statute, studies are conducted in Albanian at this university, except, according to Article 2 of the 141, when other languages can be held by Senate decision. Thus, the foreign language can apply to study programs, not as part of the admissional exams. Therefore, it is absurd to demand criteria for a language in which no studies are conducted, much less for this criterion to condition students 20 points from total scores.
The same statute, namely, in the articles in which the study entry filters are not mentioned for foreign languages. Even the Law on Higher Education does not set forth such a criterion.
By this explanation for the media and public opinion, you are informed that the SPUP is not against foreign languages, because this organisation considers that foreign language recognition is important for academic formation of students, but the organisation is against how students are being imposed on such criteria for recognising these languages. Even before that decision, students of several directions have been tested for English by having questions on the receiving exam from this language, but they are never conditioned on certificate.
To meet this criterion, students must be equipped with certificates of international A2-level tests for master and B1 for doctors, which in Kosovo can only be obtained by two institutions: Aglia examination and AAB College, thus creating monopolies and this guidance turns into business at the expense of students. As it is a business matter, the fact that these tests are not keeping the language center or the Faculty of Fiology in the UP, in which departments of these languages are found.
As a result of this criterion stemming from administrative instruction issued by the Government of Kosovo, the victims are students and the pocket of their families, because to pay an international test, up to 160 euros is needed. So, The SPUP appeals that this decision be withdrawn as soon as possible, measures will otherwise be taken even in protests along with all the injured students.
