Open session required for Macedonia special prosecutor's dismissal

The chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Elections and Advocations of Northern Macedonia, Ilija Dimovski, demands that the report of the Council of Prosecutors, in which the dismissal of chief special prosecutor Katica Janva, be declassified. His request, Dimovski, will address the Council of Prosecutors as the body authorised in this case for declassification. If the meeting is open or closed, this will be decided by the commission with 2/3 of the votes from the number of members.

This document in the country was not sent as classified, but was classified the following day. I hope the Council of Prosecutors will consider this because I respect the fact that there is a need to be taken care of the criminal procedures against the special prosecutor, but we need to know that in this case it is not a matter that affects human freedoms and rights. There is great public interest in this problem and absolutely the public should participate”, Dimovski stressed.

Dimovski will ask the head of the Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, to announce what the four biggest political parties in the Assembly are, in order for Janeva's dismissal to have a preliminary consensus.

Not revealing details, Dimovski adds that there are enough elements in the report for the commission to claim Janvas's dismissal.

From what I've managed to see, there are enough elements for the Assembly to bring about a decision to download. I can't talk anymore because I have to keep the secret, but obviously there's elements”, Dimovski followed.

10 out of 13 members of the Commission for Elections and nominations have security certificates. The situation is similar with the deputy members, which allows the Commission full conditions for work.

Dimovski called on all MPs who have security certificates and who want to participate in the debate on the report to submit for participation.

On August 30th, on the basis of allegations of non-professional and ethical work, the Council of Prosecutors asked the Assembly to be dismissed first by Special Katica Janeva as suspected in the “Recket” case.

If the Commission concludes its dismissal, the Parliament calls for the plenary session in which 2/3 of the vote is needed to dismiss Janevan. /Alsat
