Croatia has made a protest note against Serbia for what Zagreb calls an attempt by a group of Serbian soldiers to enter Croatian territory illegally last Saturday.

Although Serbian Ambassador to Zagreb Mira Nikolic was summoned to the Croatian Foreign Ministry, she refused the complaint filed by Croatian authorities.

The incident sparked controversy between the two countries, with exchanges of statements and charges after Saturday's morning, when Croatian border police stopped entering the country a group of 11 Serbian soldiers aimed at visiting Serb victims at the former Jasenovac concentration camp, founded by the pro-fascist Croatian Ustashe regime during the war. The Croatian Foreign Ministry called the incident a provocation from Belgrade.

At the same time, numerous reactions came from Serbs to Croatia, a neighbouring country, EU and NATO member.

The Croatian Foreign Ministry said the <x0incident is a demonstration of Serbia's inability to forget its past for the wars of the years -- <x0.1>.
