United States Special Representative for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer, said that with his appointment to this position, the US shows it is once again focused in the Western Balkan region.
Palmer made these comments Monday in Podgorica at a meeting with Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic.
According to a communique issued by Markovik's office, Palmer said Montenegro is the most successful multiethnic state in the region and that “is no coincidence that Montenegro is the first state to visit after taking office”.
Palmer was appointed representative for the Balkans by the US State Department on August 30th.
Wishing him for the post, Markovic said the decision on the appointment of Palmer presents real opportunities for accelerating the feasibility of strategic goals and contributing to the stability of the entire region.
Markovic named Palmer “the excellent Balkan”.
Speaking to Montenegro, Markovic highlighted the government's “economic policy success”, which, according to him, gives “excellent development results”.
Palmer also spoke with Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic. /rel
