A pikur suspended on the home of an elderly woman in Paris is a masterpiece of artist from Florence, Cymbae, thought to be lost.
The painting, which had been part of a group of works by the end of the 13th century, was found in a house in the northern French town of Compence.
It is thought that the value at auction next month could amount to 6m euros.
The woman felt that she was just an old religious icon. Experts have not disputed the origin.
Infrared analysis revealed similarities with other works by the Italian painter Cambaue.
