The government of India has banned the production and import of electronic cigarettes, and the move is seen as a breach of plans to expand companies such as Jules Labs and Philip Morris International, Reuters reports.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sytaramanje announced that with the decision to ban these products would improve tobacco control in the country.
She claimed that electronic cigarettes have become a major health hazard, as they are not used as a tool to help quit smoking, but as a fashion édhaja especially for young people.
More than 900,000 people die each year because of diseases associated with the risk of smoking.
Otherwise, there are 106 million smokers in India.
