At least 23 people have lost their lives, and 14 others have been injured by a major explosion at a fireworks factory in India.
The explosion at Gurdaspur, followed by a large fire, destroyed the building used to produce fireworks in a residential area.
The cause of the event is not yet known. Rescue search teams are trying to get the bodies out of the rubble.
The blast was so strong that it destroyed windows and broke down walls of nearby buildings. Several pedestrians passing through the area at the time of the blast were also injured.
General Inspector Surinderpal Singh Parmar said fireworks producers may have been working illegally.
They had not renewed the contract to produce fireworks for two years.
Fireworks are widely used in India during celebrations, especially at the largest Hindu Diwali festival in late October.
On Saturday, at least 12 people were killed and 58 others were injured after an explosion at a chemical plant in the western state of Maharashtra.
