When it comes to EU countries, alcoholic beverages are the most expensive in Finland and the cheapest in Bulgaria and Romania.
Given Eurostat analysis, the average price of alcohol in the most expensive EU member states was double the average price in the EU.
Comparing the country's prices to the average price of 100 EU alcoholic beverages, the results show that in 2018 the price of alcohol, wine and beer was the highest in Finland with an 182 price index, followed by Ireland (177) and Sweden (152).
The price of alcoholic beverages at the EU level in 2018 was the lowest in Bulgaria and Romania, with an index of 74, followed by Hungary (77), the Czech Republic (82) and Spain (84).
Throughout Europe, including non-EU countries, the lowest price of alcoholic beverages was registered in northern Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the most expensive in Iceland and Norway.
In countries of the region, higher prices for alcoholic beverages pay Greek citizens (132), Montenegro (105) and Croatia (100), Serbia (84), Slovenia (92) and Albania (99).
