Zarif claimed Saudi Arabia would have to fight “to the last American soldier”. Furthermore, he told CNN that Iran hoped to avoid conflict, adding that his country was willing to speak with regional rivals, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
But the possibility of a return to talks with the US, however, will not happen unless Washington guarantees the removal of sanctions as promised in the 2015 nuclear agreement, writes Periscope.
He once again denied Tehran's involvement in weekend attacks on Saudi Arabia's plants, which dramatically raised tensions in the region. Zarif said that the Houth rebels, who even claimed responsibility, had developed their military capacities and could make such attacks.
The US and Saudi officials have repeatedly denied responsibility taken by the Houthi rebels in weekend attacks. /Periscope
