The predictable legislative and regulatory environment, functioning of the market economy, equal treatment of all businesses, and combating informal economy should be the key priorities of the new government.

These conclusions were drawn from today's table organized by the American Economic Oda, where businesses were able to present their recommendations for the new Government.

Concerns about past decisions taken without prior co-ordination with the business community, which have affected business operations disorder, were also discussed at the table.

Avni Krasniqi, chairman of the American Oda Trade and Customs Committee, as well as company representative Delphin LTD, mentioned that the country's constitution envisions a free market economy, stressing that institutions should therefore engage in meeting these constitutional provisions and refrain from unilateral decisions and legal changes that violate free trade.

As an example, the trade bill proposed by the Ministry of Commerce in the government's recent mandate was taken, which provided serious provisions in the trade sector.

Hakif Gashi, vice president of the Board of Ode Governors, as well as representative of the Meridian Corporation company, said that trade in effect connects all sectors, including production and services, therefore should be praised for its importance in the country's sustainable economic development.

He further said, that the new government should consider American Ode recommendations, as well as other private sector organisations, since it will help preserve a healthy business environment.

Tushaj, representative of Japan Tobacco International, spoke of the need for predictability in operations of relevant industries, stressing that decisions there violate business planning and make their operation difficult.

He said Kosovo, however, has had a better environment of doing business compared to other neighbouring countries, and this should continue in the future.

Tushaj considered it necessary for Kosovo to begin with what is known as the assessment of the Regulatory Influence, which, for example, applies to Albania, which takes into account the impact that certain policies may have in a comprehensive way.

Other present businesses also expressed concerns about policy efforts to intervene in the market economy as well as in private business operations, stressing both the most efficient use of public money and fighting corruption and informality as necessary.
