25 people have lost lives in jobs in only the last six months in Albania. The figure was made public at “Wake Up” in Top Channel by Irena Gjona, Head of the Job Security Inspection Sector.
Gjoka admitted there are hidden accidents that occur at work and that 10% of cases investigated by the Labour Inspectorate have been reported by late. These reports are made mainly by injured employers or their family members, the media, or the police, although it is the employer who must report the accident immediately.
The most problematic accident sector remains the construction sector, but the Facebook sector also remains.
According to Gjok, the Inspectorate has increased 34% inspections in workplaces compared to the first 6th month of last year. While acknowledging that there is an increase in accidents, Djoko said it was not about worsening the situation, but about an awareness by employers and employers to report accidents.
Irena Gjona said that accident prevention should begin as soon as a subject is opened, if it meets the safety rules at work, as well as increased inspections.
