Union seeks dismissal of Museum Steering Council

The union of the National Museum of Kosovo after developments that took place in this institution with the appointment of the director and then the annulment of the contest has called on the incumbent Minister, Cameron Gashi, to urgently dismiss the current Steering Council for violations in the case of developing the draft procedures for MKK directors, to seek [...]
This union has also asked the minister to start reviewing legal documents involving the regulation of professional and scientific activity at the Kosovo National Museum.
According to the union, the election of the director of the Kosovo National Museum has not been made on the basis of respecting the legal procedures and performance of candidates, but on party and nepotic grounds, violating legal principles defined by the laws in force.
“This process begins to be degraded by the period of drafting regulation 15/2018 for the degrees and salaries of the creators and cultural performers and professional cultural heritage workers, and with particular emphasis the MKK statute, which has been drafted and adopted without consulting MKK workers and as such, is designed with full political content. Throughout the recruiting process, there were violations in the development of procedures such as the process of career recruiting conducted as the first procedure, has not been carried out according to regulations No. 21/2012 for the Civil Officers' Avancing. The writing test's organisation had selective character, drafting non-artital questions directly and with a tendency to political manipulation. The test assessment was also manifested by full political interference. The whole process deteriorated with the organisation of the interview and therefore with the publication of final results, where the MKK Director is appointed, member of the The PDK branch in Drenas, the weaker and non-professional candidate, contrary to the statute that the MKK Steering Council itself had compiled in response.
The union's leadership estimates that the museum continues to remain at the crossroads, being offended and degraded in different ways and forms by political parties which led the MKRS, and eventually by the PDK.
The Union of Workers of the National Museum of Kosovo, through this letter, reconfirms once again that in the event of failing to meet higher demand, it would continue to demand respect for requests in question via legal means and other protest forms.
