Champion Fernikel has stopped in the first qualifying round of the Champions League and later the League of Europe, while Pristina stopped at the pre-qualify round of the League of Europe.
According to Toverlan, the elimination of amateur teams, such as those of Gibraltar, is unacceptable. He says the time has ended when club executives, but even trainers and players, have argued failures with lack of experience, lack of conditions and infrastructure.
Tovrinani estimates the improvements made in Kosovo football, especially in terms of players' revenues, but says many jobs must be done to get on track. The Pristina icon estimates that Kosovo has a golden chance of making a name through football, even the club's, at a time when most regional clubs are in crisis.
52-year-old Toverlan was one of Pristina's best players, for a long time her leader. He was just as successful as a coach, and he's not actually engaged in a club.
He has won three titles with Pristina and one with Fernikil and also the Kosovo Cup with both teams. He has also led other clubs, including Trepca 89 and Ferizaj. He's still one of the most valued trainers in the country.
KD: How do you assess the Kosovo team campaign in the European Cups?
Africa Toverlan: It was a campaign that could be defined as a failure, not just for this year, but for last year. Such a conclusion comes when I take on the basis of opponents facing both Pristina and Fernikli.
We can no longer serve with reasoning as a lack of experience. For example, Pristina has Mirel Josh, who with Skenderbeun had long experience in qualifications for European cups. Pristina also has players who have played European matches. I repeat, for me the appearance is a failure, when the teams that had faced both Pristina and Europe League qualifications in the Champions League...
