Thaci meets Daka, talks about election preparations

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has hosted CEC chairman Valdete Daka's meeting today.

At this meeting, preparations for the election body have been discussed, following parliamentary political parties' warning of the distribution of the Kosovo Assembly tomorrow 22 August.

Thaci has stressed that immediately after the distribution of the Assembly and after the signing of the election date, it is important to make preparations to ensure a fair and democratic election process.

“should all technical, professional and budgetary preparations be made, to organise an election process that meets the highest democratic criteria”, President Thaci has added.

He has said that even in these elections there should be professional monitoring by international organisations, nongovernmental organisations and media. On the other hand, Valdete Daka, chairman of the CEC, has said technical preparations have already begun to be made for organising democratic elections in Kosovo, following the distribution of the Parliament and the decree of the president's election date.
