Parties prepare bids for October 6th elections

Although the official presentation of platforms is expected to take place during the campaign, which opens on 25 September, political parties say they already have the main programming points, with which they compete to gain the citizens' confidence in the country's future governance during the four-year mandate.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has largely presented corruption and organised crime as its main goal.

Kosovo Democratic Party Chairman Kadri Veselini has said the PDK has so far undertaken deep reforms against corruption, saving money and investing in new opportunities for young people.

“Change begins with the fight against corruption, to create equal opportunities, to keep young people here and to build a powerful economy”, Wessel declared in public presentations.

In the Democratic League of Kosovo, those who have cultivated corruption and nepotism can't fight either one or the other, alluding to parties that have governed together in the coalition. P DK-AAK and Social Democrat Initiative.

The Democratic League of Kosovo has stressed that its ruling programme in the event of victory will focus on economic development, both in the private sector and public.

Vjosa Osmani of the LDK has stated that governance under this political party will focus from education and health to combating crime, corruption and capture of the state.

“Bashka with the citizens of Kosovo, to turn Kosovo into a straight path for Kosovo's citizens, to get this country out of the abyss, in which the unconscious people and the corrupt people --” -- have been expressed, which by the LDK has been nominated as a candidate for the prime minister's post.

The Vetevendosje movement so far has never been in power at the central level.

Officials of this political subject say the Vetevendosje programme in this election process focuses on three main pillars.

Arberie Nagavci from the Vetevendosje Movement has told Radio Free Europe, that the first issue where Vetevendosje is focused concerns the rule of law, the developing state and the social state.

For each of these three pillars, we have already started work on our professional committees and are almost finalising the priorities, or measures or concrete activities on how we can improve on these three” columns, Nagavci indicated.

On the other hand, from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, which in the election competes with the Social Democrat Party, have said their programme in the first place has elements that empower the state of Kosovo.

Ardian Gjini, deputy chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, has said the AAK, together with the Social Democrat Party, are working on the programme for sovereignisation of Kosovo, but also on other issues such as economy and justice.

I think it's a very real approach that's well calculated in terms of salary increases, whether employment or social schemes. So our program also stands out in the question of sovereignisation of the state, policies that have never existed before: With the sovereignisation of the state, with the strengthening of Kosovo's international position and at the same time, our economic development policies, which will be very concrete and will be unveiled on the day of its coming”, Djind has declared Radio Free Europe.

The election campaign is expected to begin on 25 September and will last ten days. But, parties and coalitions have already started election activities, as well as come up with the names of their candidates for Kosovo's next prime minister.

Early elections became necessary after Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's resignation, due to the invitation he had received from the Kosovo Special Court with headquarters in The Hague to be interviewed in the quality of war crimes suspect.

Following Haradinaj's resignation, the Kosovo Assembly approved the motion for the distribution of the Parliament, while President Hashim Thaci announced October 6th, the date for holding early parliamentary elections.
