Federica Moghrini has said a final decision for visa liberalisation for Kosovo should be made.
The time has come for visa liberalisation for Kosovo, the high representative for foreign policy and security of the European Union, Federica Moghrini, in Helsinki, has said after the meeting of foreign affairs ministers of EU member states and the Western Balkans.
According to her, the European Commission has said the time has come to abolish visas for Kosovo citizens.
The decision on this should be made by the Council of Europe and it is the time of the end to occur. I hope the EU states will make that decision”, Moghrin stressed.
She has added, however, that the Western Balkans are very important from strategic perspective for the EU and should integrate that space.
The strategic aspect of the EU is important that it be united in its expansion. The Western Balkan states are limited to EU member states and create an island within the Union”, she said.
She stressed that the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU is also important for the reconciliation of those states that fought 20 years ago. No global criteria are displayed in that space as the EU, as far as trade and investment are concerned, Moghrin stressed.
