French President Emmanuel Macron proposed today a former centre minister, Sylvie Gulard, to represent France in the next European Commission, Elyse's presidential palace announced.
“Goulard, 54, and Modem's former member, presidential majority party, has a known experience and the capacity needed to play a major role within the European Commission, led by German Ursula Von Voen der Leyen starting on November 1st”, the presidency underlined.
This ENA graduate, the institution forming the elites of the French administration, was the Army minister immediately after the election of Emmanuel Macron as president, to the first government of Edward Philippe, in May 2017, before resigning a month later due to an issue of alleged extinguishable employment by eurodeputs in Mom.
She was named in January 2018 at the Bank of France, in the post of deputy governor.

Having been political adviser to European Commission President Romano Prodi in 2001-2004, Sylvie Goulard was elected to the European Parliament on the MoDem list in 2009 and was later re-elected in 2014.
