Following Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's resignation, the majority of parliamentary political parties in Kosovo have declared they are for extraordinary elections and not for a technical Government.
However, representatives of some political parties and political analysts say all possibilities for having a technical government to continue the Haradinaj Government's mandate have not yet expired.
Albulen Haxhiu, deputy of the Vetevendosje Movement, said that besides the subject she belongs to, there are political parties and other mechanisms that are exploiting all possibilities for the country not to go into extraordinary selections.
Even today, we cannot say that these commitments have been halted because we have bitter experiences... they have become weirder coalitions just to have stability in politics or not to go into extraordinary elections. For Vetevendosje, extraordinary elections are solutions and we consider that the opposition, even from today, should be the next government”, Haxhiu said.
New choices, old faces
Politologist Ramush Tahiri told Radio Free Europe, that despite statements by political parties that the country must go to the polls, there is still time for forming a technical government. He stresses that the technical government leaves the country out of the crisis.
“There is always time for technical governments if parties agree even if there is platform and purpose”, Tahiri said.
Tahiri considers that some mechanisms and political parties in certain forms have expressed readiness to have a technical government in a way, as he says, to conclude some processes such as political dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia as electoral reform.
Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Blerta Deliu-Codra in a debate organised by one of Kosovo's private colleges, said the PDK is committed to an extraordinary election process, not technical government.
The August 22nd “Data is set [for the distribution of the Assembly] with the agreement of our international partners in EU Office observer teams who have demanded that there be time to agree. Hence, there should be no need to be a distraction to try to manipulate shopping, the language that is constantly used and trying to create a climate for not having an election process. The PDK is more willing than ever to enter this process”, Deliu aldra said
Politologist Tahiri says an extraordinary election process now in Kosovo, without an election reform, does not guarantee a government success in the future.
The elections necessarily do not bring progress, because it can also enter the governing crisis, depending on the election results and could lose several months”, Tahiri said.
A day earlier, through a communique, Quinti's countries have asked Kosovo and Serbia to avoid actions that would prevent a final agreement, reportedly “, is necessary for both countries to achieve greater Euro-Atlantic integration and accompanying benefits”.
British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairí O'Connell, has reacted after various interpretations that the media in Kosovo have made to the declaration of the countries of Quinti, (United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy) a day earlier for continuing dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union.
Through a social network post, Facebook, Connell, has said the issue of holding elections or not belongs only to Kosovo.
Ramush Haradinaj's resignation from the Kosovo prime minister's post has come following his invitation to Specialised Chambers, known as the Special Court for War Crimes in Kosovo, to interview him as war crimes suspects.
Haradinaj has stressed that the Special Court has not wanted to go as the country's prime minister, but as Kosovo's ordinary citizen and after the resignation has called for the country to go to new elections.
