Kosovo has already entered the first phase of holding elections.
The August 22nd Assembly session will be the last of this legislature, as the distribution of parliament is expected to be shared, writes news.net.
After that, the announcement of extraordinary elections in our country is also expected.
And this process is also expected to delay dialogue with Serbia. Consequently, the Paris Summit, scheduled for September, could be postponed for an indefinite date.
This is confirmed by sources of news.net within the Government.
The same say there is currently no movement of any of the European states to hold such a meeting.
There is actually no movement. There probably won't be anything concrete at this time”, these sources say.
Early elections are likely seen as the only escape from the situation, and blockades that have already entered the process of normalising relations with Serbia.
Political affairs acquaintance Avni Mazrek says the elections will legitimise Kosovo's representative in the dialogue process.
The “elections legitimise or should legitimise the Kosovo representative as well. While we are in an electoral process all political parties have agreed that the elections are the only instrument to create its democratic representative bodies”, he says.
Mazreku acknowledges that holding meetings, as would be the Paris Summit model, will have delays until Kosovo chooses new governing bodies.
According to him, even now is not the right time for Pristina to try to make new moves in this direction.
“I don't think this phase would be appropriate that Kosovo could begin a negotiation process of a final deal with Serbia at any level, whether at the European level or at the bilatheral level. Kosovo currently does not have legitimate representatives elected who have Kosovo's constitutional capacity at this level. So, yes, Kosovo must wait until the selection of new legitimate bodies in early elections for dialogue with Serbia”, Mazreku concludes.
The start of the dialogue blockade with Serbia is considered to be the tax imposed by the Government of Kosovo on Serbian goods.
Its removal was recently demanded by the QUINT states, which called on the two countries to avoid actions that conflict with reaching the final agreement.
