Yesterday news was given that Hamza bin Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, briefly known as Hamza bin Laden, was killed by an air strike. His father, Osama bin Laden, was a prominent international criminal who had designed the 11 September terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. The latter was killed in May 2011.
Hamza was married to Mohammed Atta's daughter, one of the hijackers who had hit twin towers on September 11th 2001.
In 2007, Hamza had been involved in the murder of Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. However, after questioning al-Qaedas' spokesman, Sultan Abu Ghaith, Hamza had been in house arrest in Iran when Bhutto was killed.
On August 14, 2015, he had published an audio message for the first time. He called on supporters in Kabul, Baghdad and Gaza to start jihad, or holy war, in Washington, London, Paris and Tel Aviv, writes Periscopi.
In July 2016, media reported that he had published another audio message threatening the United States with revenge following his father's assassination.
On 28 February of this year, the US State Department offered a $1m reward for any information leading to Hamza's identification or location.
On March 1st of this year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had also announced that it had revoted bin Laden's citizenship.
The letters the Seal team seized after the raid and murder, bin Laden, meant that Hamza would be his heir after the death of his older brother, Saad.
