Crowds of believers have gathered in Mecca since before Haxhi, one of the events that culminates in the Islamic calendar.
Authorities report that over 1.8 million visitors have entered the country. Crowds of believers from around the world, dressed in white, are wandering about in the holy city, west of the ultraconservative kingdom.
Pilgrims have several religious rites that have remained unchanged since the founding of Islam 14 centuries ago. Hagi is one of the five pillars of Islam, and Muslims have to realise it at least once in their lives, always if they can afford it.
In Mecca is the House, a black cube structure painted in gold, and standing in the heart of the mosque, which is different from its Ottoman minarets.
Muslims head to the temple five times a day as pilgrims walk around the House seven times and perform a number of sacred rites, follows Rts.
Everything happens at temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Fahrenheit [40 ° C], making pilgrimage not a bit difficult.
Meanwhile, authorities have taken steps to avoid repeating disasters such as the 2015 disaster when 2300 believers lost their lives on foot from each other, the biggest tragedy in Haxhi's history.
