The main goal of the Turkish president's visit to Serbia relates to the launch of works for construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway.
Part of the project that amounts to 3 billion euros is the Turkish company Tasiapi. Turkey itself finances a considerable portion of the highway.
Serbia has given great importance to building highways that connect it to European corridors, such as this last project.
With the highway towards Sarajevo, Serbia will be linked to the 5th corridor starting in Bosnia and Herzegovina to cross into Croatia and end up in Hungary.
As for Erdogan's visit, Turkey's president has been last in the Serbian state in October 2017, while economic relations between Ankara and Belgrade have recognised considerable growth.
