Elections expected to be held in late September or early October

On August 22nd, it will be the date when the Kosovo Parliament will be dissolved so that it can pave the way for holding early elections, which are expected to be held in late September or the first week of October. This is how it is decided at the Kosovo Assembly leadership gathering, while all parties are [...]
The invitation to the chairmanship meeting has been answered by all chiefs of parliamentary groups, including that of the Serbian List. Until, later representatives of the two opposition parties -- the LDK and the VV -- have been seen agreeing before entering the meeting.
Parliament Speaker Kadri Wessel said the only solution when there are dilemmas for citizens is elections, while stressing that Kosovo needs determination to move forward and strategic wisdom to preserve the country's sovereignty and integrity.
I said it with complete conviction and determination. Even today I say that the only solution to the dilemma is the citizens of the country, is the elections. Elections are not option, or alternative, but are also the right course for citizens and our country. This country needs determination to move forward”, Vessel said.
While LDK MP chief Avdullah Hoti demanded that after the dissolution of the Assembly all necessary constitutional procedures be followed so that the country can move to well-equipped elections as soon as possible.
“We all agreed together that the country should go to well prepared fair elections. All relevant institutions take up their duties. We all agreed at the Assembly's meeting of the Parliament's leadership on August 22, 2019, at 10:00, to dismantle the Assembly and then follow all necessary procedures under the Constitution to take the country to the polls. We also agreed that before the breakup of the Parliament we would approve the IPA international agreement Kosovo brings 100m euros to various projects”, Hoti said.
The same demand included the first of PDK deputies Memli Krasniqi, who said space should be given to a new government with civic legitimacy that will advance pending processes.
Let's make this road forward, as we have until today only statements in the media. Today this process has taken on institutional seal. We believe that immediately after the distribution the president and parties should act to determine as soon as possible, within the constitutional terms holding early elections to give space to a new government with citizens legitimacy, which will advance processes that have remained on hold”, Krasniqi said.
The date for holding the elections gave Initiative MP Bilall the Sheriff, who said that late September or the first week of October, you were expected to find Kosovo in new elections.
The sheriff also expressed some of the reasons why the Assembly is set to be disbanded by August 22nd and not earlier.
The “End of September or early October will be the closest date to organising early elections... The reason why the date was set to be August 22nd and not immediately concerns and recommendations from the EU that needed little more time to prepare the monitoring mission that will take him to Kosovo. If the Assembly were distributed tomorrow and September 15th, it would be the election date they would have difficulty preparing the observer mission to send it to Kosovo and observe the” elections, he said.
Happy with that decision was AAK MP Ahmet Isufi's chief of deputies.
“In this case, the mandate is returned to the sovereign, as Mr. Haradinaj stressed in the case of his resignation” respectively, he said.
Unlike other party colleagues, VV parliamentary group chief Glauk Konjufca and he is PSD, Dardan Sejdiu, were not promoted to the media.
All this situation has come because of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's resignation following the invitation to testify at the Special Court as a suspect.
