Shortly after President Hashim Thaci declared October 6th as the date for holding early elections, the Central Election Commission has been activated.
This institution is expected to meet during today to make the first decisions that will serve the organisation of these elections.
The news has been confirmed for Kosova Prees by CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi, who has said he remains with members of this institution to make these decisions.
“The agenda is expected to be several decisions such as cutting the time deadlines of election activities by adjusting them to the available days of the CEC, adopting the Operational Plan and adopting the planned budget for these elections”, Elesi has said.
He has added that at this meeting, in order for the CEC to succeed in meeting all constitutional and legal obligations, the decision to extend staff work hours will be made.
Otherwise, these are the seventh elections for the Kosovo Assembly since the post-war.
So far, since declaring independence, all parliamentary elections in Kosovo, including and the latter, were early elections.
