The Brazilian Army has begun sending troops and vehicles to the Amazon to block the fires, Defence and Environment ministers announced, illustrating plans to shut down the sites.
On the ground there will be 44,000 soldiers who will be assisted by military aircraft.
On the other hand, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, in a short speech to the media, said that “fires in the Amazon forest, which are not above the average of those who have fallen in the last 15 years, cannot serve as an excuse to impose international sanctions against Brazil”.
On the eve of the G7 summit in Biarric various countries, led by France, said they intend to take measures to ensure the protection of the American-jugo country's environment.
