Brazil's president, Jair Bolsonaro, authorised military operations in seven regions Sunday to fight flames in the Amazon forests, responding to local authorities' requests for assistance from the central government.
In a video published online by the Ministry of Defense, a military plane is seen throwing thousands of gallons of water at the time it was flying through the smoke clouds created by large fires.
The Brazilian government's response came after world leaders attending the G7 group summit expressed deep concern about the forest situation in the Amazon.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Sunday that the leaders of this group are close to reaching the agreement on offering technical and financial assistance to countries affected by the Amazon fires, writes the “The Guardian.
