U.S. Presidential Administration ( The US, Donald Trump, has made public Monday a new rule that can afford American citizenship to hundreds of thousands of people who are very poor, broadcast news agency “Reuters”.
This rule, which has been pushed forward by Trump's deputy on migration issues, Stephen Miller and will start implementing by mid-October, envisions rejection of temporary or permanent visa applications for persons who fail to meet the standard welfare criteria or receive social assistance from the state.
Such a change would ensure that immigrants can afford their own expenses and “do not depend on public sources”, but on other sources, including family members, sponsors, and private organisation”, it is said in the Federal Register.
This could be one of the most drastic policies of Trump against migration, experts have said.
Migration advocates have criticised this plan, saying it is an attempt to stop illegal migration without making changes to American law through Congress.
The new rule is based on the Act for Imigrim dating back to 1882, which allows the American Government to refuse visas for anyone who could return to “public responsibility”.
American officials have put on the “public responsibility list” those applicants who are probably financially dependent on the state.
