Zahaqi residents protest setting up roadblocks

According to them, establishing these barriers enables citizens on this side to perform services at the local community's Family Medicine Centre, in the municipal office, access to the home of culture, sending children to school, businesses doing their business, access to the sports room under construction, and citizens have to make a minimum 5-7km more to go home.

Residents caution that imposing such road barriers is not provided by law in residential areas, and that any other ministry action on roads along settlements should be consulted with residents.

This action by the Ministry of Infrastructure has paralysed the life of local residents, as to move from one village to another, one must go to the end or start of the segment and that the circles are located only in the vicinity of the local businesses of Elikosı. In addition, the same minister has removed the bus waiting station from the centre in Zahaq, removing it for more than 2km”, the statement said.

Moreover, residents complain that these are not the only violations the Ministry of Infrastructure has committed, as the same ministry has not yet done expropriation of property and side damage to residents during road construction.
