The most important guest of the Western Balkans Conference, which meets annually in another European city since 2014, is expected to be German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
It is also the founder of the diplomatic initiative known as the Berlin Process.
The aim of the initiative is to, with the help of several EU member states, accompany the six Western Balkan countries: Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Northern Macedonia on the road to EU membership.
