In his speech, Chief Parliamentary Veselin said GGD is the most special group in all the legislatures of this Parliament, which, throughout its existence, has fully justified the purpose for which it was created.
He said this group has managed to function as a representative forum beyond party differences, in the function of a national agenda such as the gender equality agenda and the support of marginalised society groups.
I am here today to congratulate you on the very positive spirit of cooperation that you have built and the successes you have achieved in the fields of your engagement. At the same time I assure you that you will have my unhurt support for you to go on, empower the group and expand its commitments”, Wessel stressed.
The head of the Assembly said that Kosovo has moved far in this direction, when it comes to legislation, but added that there is still much work to get this legislation to be implemented rigorously. As Wessel said, the barriers to old mentality fostering discriminationist prejudices and the practices of excluding women from social and institutional life are still resisting, although their strength from day to day is coming dim.
Citing the contribution of women MPs to this progress, the Speaker of the Assembly recalled that only in last year they have managed to handle some of the important laws.
Despite the achievements, Chief Parliamentary Veselin said challenges such as state and society are still major, primarily those of economic development.
The “Puna is what gives meaning to human life in contemporary society, so our greatest obligation, the greatest patriotic task today, is to enable a society of chance for all citizens of Kosovo, a society where there can be work for all, especially for our young. To walk in this regard, it is necessary to leave excessive debates and bring politics back to citizenship, the problems of its life - style. Only by doing so does our role as elected representatives of citizens make sense. I posted these messages, because you're one of the most relevant forums for such a thing”, Chief Prime Minister Wessel said.
