US senators demand sanctions on Erdogan after buying rockets from Putin

“On solid bipartisan grounds, Congress has made it clear that there must be consequences for the wrong purchase of S-400 by President Erdogan, a disturbing signal for a strategic alignment with Putin's Russia and a threat to the F-35” programme, senators write.
Therefore, we ask President Trump to fully apply sanctions as required by law”, this letter says.
However, senators stress that “Turkey is an important ally NATO and hope that the strategic relationship between the United States and Turkey will exceed this step after”.
Senators are the main members of the Armed Services Committees and Foreign Affairs, Jim Inhoff, Jack Reed, Jim Rich and Bob Menandez.
