Even though Kosovo will make the chairmanship of the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEEC), connoisseurs of political issues are sceptical that any results will be achieved by these summits.
Analyst Rasim Alija says Kosovo has repeatedly failed to take advantage of these regional initiatives.
“We have seen so far that Kosovo, at least in these regional representations, has negative indicators as all projects have been recorded, or even when Kosovo has had to receive funds from these regional initiatives, has not received”, told RTV Dukagjin, Rasim Alija.
Artan Murati from the Kosovo Democratic Institute says these summits cannot be successful, without a normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia being achieved.
The Republic of Kosovo will host the next summit. This does not believe it will bring about something new as we know Bosnia and Kosovo's attitudes towards the Republic of Kosovo and we know open issues and unfortunately to resolve these issues require other processes ... Regional initiatives are welcome when there is political will but in the Balkans there is still a lack of political will for genuine political co-operation”, Art Murati said.
SEECP member states are Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Northern Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Romania and Serbia.
