Voldymyr Zelensky became president of Ukraine in April this year, but has said he has so far been unable to appoint the ministers he wants.
The former composer is hoping that these extraordinary elections, which he had announced immediately after being elected president, will strengthen his power and give more opportunities for reform.
President Zelensky's party, named “People's servant” under the name of the TV show, once guided by it, is expected to mark good results in this election.
According to polls, the second most popular party is the Opposition for Life Platform, which is a supporter of Russia and is expected to get mostly votes in eastern Ukraine regions.
However, Zelensky has ruled out the possibility of co-operation with this party if he does not secure enough votes to form the government without a coalition.
Ukraine's president must share power with parliament, which has the right to form the government and propose the prime minister, writes “BBC”
