International media are writing about the Russian president's unprecedented gesture, which has caused such cups to be sold into hundreds of stores on the internet.
Consumers in China are ordering them mainly via Chinese platform “Taobao”.
The website describes it as “The version of Putin's thermo-ceramic isolation”, water cup, or a “perfect gift for men and women”.
The philosopher, with a golden emblem of the coating of the Republic of Russia with a double eagle, is offered for 69.6 Chinese Juan or $11.
One of the promotional slogans says: “A copy of Putin's cup is ready for you, and we can hand it over for two weeks”.
A representative of the e-Second client's service told Global Times that Putin has given them a great gift after receiving thousands of orders, after he appeared with him at the G20 summit.
“We have received over 100 requests”, he said, adding that the cup is an ideal gift for each friend.
Meanwhile, media report that Putin taking his cup with him at a G20 dinner last week has sparked speculations in social media that he was probably afraid of being poisoned or erupting because he was drinking vodka.
Sitting on the left of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Putin raised his personal white cup during the banquet. US President Donald Trump, sitting on Abe's other side, drank like a glass of wine.
Russian President Dmitry Peskov's spokesman tried to remove the mystery, telling the agency “RIA Novosti” that Putin's cup was filled with tea.
