Based on statistics provided by news.net, in 31 fatal accidents that have been around January through May, 37 people have lost their lives.
However, compared with the same time period, police statistics say there is a decline in death rates and fatal accidents.

As for injuries, for the first five months in our country there have been 1,000 and 922 accidents and compared to the same time period, this year the number of injuries has occurred. According to police statistics, last year there were 2,000 and 276 accidents, which reportedly had 354 fewer accidents this year.
These accidents affected 3 thousand and 568 people, or 976 people less than last year were injured in accidents, reports news.
In terms of material damage accidents, Kosovo Police have reported on news.net, that 3 thousand and 264 are registered this year, and compared to the January-May period 2018, the number of material damage accidents has registered by 4.95 percent or in numbers, this year has occurred at 170 accidents.
Even in the total accident rate this year there is a decline. According to statistics during the first five months of last year in our country, 5 thousand and 745 accidents had occurred, and this same year, the number of accidents in general has declined.
According to police statistics in total this year in the first five months, 5 thousand and 217 accidents have been registered or 528 accidents later than in the same period of last year.
Growth in this period of time is in the pronunciation of traffic tickets for various perpetrators.
Kosovo police have indicated that in the first five months of this year, a total of 170 thousand and 300 traffic tickets have been pronounced -- that is, 14 thousand and 940 more than in the same time period last year.
According to the Kosovo Police, concrete plans for safety in traffic and awareness campaigns have affected the decline in the number of accidents.
However, they have appealed to drivers to watch their vehicles.
“Seek out all traffic participants, especially the drivers' direction, that the vehicle's direction (run) is to adjust to road conditions, respect road traffic signs, limit speed, and be very alert, because maximum attention to traffic participants, in particular the drivers are necessary to avoid accidents and thus create greater safety in road traffic”, has Kosovo Police have announced.
It should be stressed that Kosovo police have taken additional measures for the summer season.
On the other hand, days ago Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has also asked fellow countrymen to be more cautious in traffic, since during the summer even the number of cars in traffic is greater.
