France is one of the powers that has tried to ease mounting tensions after the United States last year withdrew from the deal.
Russia, China, France, Great Britain, Germany, as well as the EU still remain parties to the agreement, aimed at restricting Iran's enrichment of uranium and preventing opportunities for building the nuclear bomb.
