The Nevada Department of Agriculture said the rare invasion was linked to an inappropriate winter and spring.
Jeff Knight, an entomologist at the Department of Agriculture, said insects can be scary, but they're harmless, says Top Channel.
“They do not bear any diseases, bite and are not one of the species we consider a problem,” told Knight, journalists Friday. “They may not cause much damage in a yard. ”
He said that locusts, measuring 380 inches [380 cm] long, will leave the area of Las Vegas within weeks.
