After northern Macedonia, which benefited status in 1979, the Albanian part of this lake has been continuous efforts for years which have already been finalised making this natural wealth preserve and have special status, Tch reports.
Yet, this achievement has already been accomplished for Pogradec Lake, and challenges abound.
Lake Ohrid is estimated to be one of the world's 3 oldest lakes. The flow of water, the harmonisation of the mountain relief with the lake, and the numerous archaeological sites have led experts to classify it as a natural and cultural asset.
In 1979, as a result of the political system of time, the Albanian part of Lake Ohrid remained off the list of U's world assets NESTO. It took 40 years for this part, as well as the Macedonian part, to be part of the W World List NESTO.
Meanwhile, for residents and tourists, major changes are expected in Pogradec Lake, which will greatly improve not only infrastructure for residents but also tourism development.
